INTRODUCTION
In 7th grade, students begin investigating physical properties of substances. One abstract physical property that students struggle to understand is density. Students can memorize how to use the formula, but fail to truly understand the deep understanding of density including mass and volume. Using technologies such as TED-Ed lessons, ExitTicket, and online simulations to complement discovery learning and mastery learning, students should leave class with a better understanding of mass, volume, and density. This deeper understanding will propel them forward and help them apply the concept of density to explain why some objects float and why some objects sink. In addition, students will be able to better explain the impact of temperature changes on the density of an object.
